Massachusetts Real Estate Continuing Education

The Massachusetts Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) requirement does not follow a standard 12-hour syllabus. Instead, the Board of Registration offers a modular master curriculum featuring distinct 2-hour real estate education modules. 

Active salespersons and brokers are required to complete a total of 12 instructional hours every two years by selecting any six CE courses Massachusetts from this modular list.

RE115RC24 – Assistance Animals in Real Estate: Fair housing guidelines, definitions, and rules surrounding service/emotional support animals.

Environmental Hazards: Lead paint, asbestos, radon, mold mitigation, and Title 5 septic requirements.

RE07R25 – Closing and Settlement: Mechanics of closing disclosures, settlement actions, and state transfer taxes.

RE12R07 – Condominiums, Cooperatives, and Timeshares: Ownership mechanics, rules, management structures, and conversions.

RE25RC08 – Financing: Modern lending instruments, primary vs. secondary markets, and TRID compliance.

RE26R20 – The Residential Appraisal Process: Guidelines for understanding market valuation and appraisal standards.

RE109R25 – Short-Term Residential Vacation Rentals: Regulatory compliance, tax collections, and local registration policies.

⏱️ Format & Delivery Mandates

Unlike pre-licensing education, the delivery mechanics for CE courses Massachusetts allow full flexibility:

100% Self-Paced Allowed: You can complete all 12 hours entirely online through pre-recorded on-demand video formats via approved providers.

Strict Seat-Time Tracking: Distance learning software must use built-in timers to ensure you cannot click through a 2-hour class in less than 120 actual minutes. The system will time out automatically if user inactivity is detected.

No Final Exams: The Board does not require a final test to earn CE credits. Modules may include informal self-assessment quizzes to measure comprehension, but passing does not depend on a score hurdle.

No Repeats: You are strictly barred from repeating the same numbered module code within the same 2-year licensing cycle.
